Who We Are?

Brother Sudhakar's whole family believed firmly in the Hindu faith and used to celebrate all of the Hindu festivals and customs. Through the ministry of a pastor, his grandparents began to attend church, and when his mother began having a serious health problem, she began to attend also. Br. Sudhakar found this to be an obstacle. He was attending church with his family, but doing whatever he wished to do without his parents' knowledge. Eventually his activities with his friends got him into trouble and he was about to go to jail. He had become a big headache to his family. His father gave up trying to help him and told him he was responsible for his own mistakes. He said to him, "I cannot do anything, for it is your mistake you have to face." His mother prayed for his deliverance. Through her prayers, God set him free from his sinful ways. Though he had drifted far from his parents, he did not realize that God was drawing him close to Himself. Not long after that, he submitted himself to God's ministry and realized that God was calling him for a special purpose. In 2001 he enrolled in the Master of Arts program at Andhra University, graduating in 2003, and then took a Master of Divinity at New Life Theological College in Coimbatore, Tamilnadu, graduating in 2005.

Brother Sudhakar founded House of Praise Gospel Ministries in 2005. He leads this ministry with the vision that God has called him to restore those who have fallen away from God in these last days and to work to save lost souls. He left his work as an educator/lecturer to begin this ministry.

What we Believe: House of Praise Gospel Ministries is of a Pentecostal background. We believe in the power of God's Holy Spirit at work in the lives of believers in the spiritual gifts, including tongues, healing, miracles and prophecy. We believe in full immersion baptism and in Holy Communion.

Salvation - salvation means to be rescued from something which is harmful. Through the blood of His Son Jesus Christ, who died on the cross to atone for our sins, God has protected us from the punishment of hell which has been prepared for Satan. Forgiveness of sin is received through believing that Jesus' death and suffering has paid for all of our sins. We recognize Him as the Lord over our lives (see Romans 10:8,9).

If a person has truly received salvation, their heart and lifestyle will change and become filled with love for God and others, and they will begin learning to submit to God's will (see 2 Cor. 2:17).

Baptism - we strongly believe in baptism by immersion as the Bible instructs us. One should receive both baptism in water, and the baptism of the Holy Spirit. Water baptism represents one's decision to die to sin and self and to be risen again to live a new life in Christ Jesus (see Romans 6:3-4, 6).

The Word of God - we believe the Word of God is inspired by the Holy Spirit; "All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work".

(II Timothy 3:16-17, http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Timothy+3:15-17&version=NASB)

John wrote the book of Revelations in isolation on the Isle of Patmos. There was no-one there to give him instruction. The Holy Spirit gave Him the message.
All of the prophesies in the Bible are true, and some have already been fulfilled. The rest will be completely fulfilled. The Bible says "Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will not pass away (Mark 13:31, NASB).

We believe that we can know and see God through the Word of God. When we believe the Word of God we can see God's glory (see John 1:1).

The Holy Spirit and Tongues - we believe that the gift of baptism in the Holy Spirit is given to believers from God through the laying on of hands and prayer. The Bible reveals in many places the works and activity of the Holy Spirit. In the book of Acts, nearly 120 persons were praying in unity together, and the Holy Spirit fell upon them. They began to speak in tongues, both Jews and Gentiles (Acts 2:4). This gift is still active in the church today.

Miracles - we believe God still works miracles in the present day. In God's Word we see many miracles done through Christ and his disciples, the apostles and the early church. Jesus said that miracles and healings will follow those who believe in Him (Mark 16:17-18), and He said that if we believe we will do greater things than these (John 14:12). Miracles have happened in these latter days and in our church we have live witnesses of them.
